National Public Lands Day falls on Saturday, September 27, 2025! That means everyone gets a free entry into all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee.
The National Environmental Education Foundation leads National Public Lands Day with the National Park Service. It promotes volunteerism and enjoyment of our National Public Lands.
There is natural beauty all around us here in Florida with TWO national parks in our own backyard. Although two of them are right here, Biscayne National Park and Everglades National Park, Dry Tortugas is further south past the Keys, and Big Cypress National
Preserve is approximately one hour north of Miami.
So what can you do on National Public Lands Day?

Visit a national park for free.
There are a few dates throughout the year where you can enjoy national parks for free and September 27 is one of them!
National parks and national forests or preserves hold so much to do from hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, airboats, and just enjoying the beauty. Our family visits national parks often, and one of our favorite things to do is to participate in the Junior Ranger program. Kids are given tasks to complete, usually with a little packet, and they take it back to the park rangers at the visitor centers to review and become junior park rangers! This sometimes comes with a little badge or sticker that you can collect from all your
different location visits. Best of all… it’s also free, 365 days a year!

Volunteer.
Reach out to the national park you’ll be visiting and see if they’re hosting any clean-up events or other volunteer opportunities to give back and preserve our natural beauty. Or you can visit Volunteer.org to see opportunities across the nation.
Some parks offer clean-ups to help those hardworking park rangers keep things up to snuff for visitors and the flora and fauna that make these public lands their home!
Share the info with another friend!
If you can’t make it to National Public Lands Day, then share the information with a friend–maybe they’re able to attend, maybe they’ll learn something new, and maybe there will be a new supporter of our National Parks Service out there, thanks to you!

If you want to take advantage of the other days with free entry to National Parks, they’re
below:
• January 9: National Day of Mourning for President James Earl Carter Jr.
• January 20: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
• April 19: First day of National Park Week
• June 19: Juneteenth National Independence Day
• August 4: Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
• November 11: Veterans Day
Being outdoors just enjoying the sights, the sounds, and the beauty of our Mother Nature is the most rewarding part of all, as is sharing this all with your kids. If you do go visit a National Park or other National Public Land, make sure to tag @MiamiMomCollective to share your experience and #NPLD!
