Every Spring, there’s this pressure to reset everything. Adios holidays and hello accumulated stuff! Declutter the closets, go through the spice racks (did that really expire in ’24???! YIKES), and reset for the season ahead. And while I love a good aesthetic fridge moment as much as the next mom… that’s not the reset most of us actually need.
Because if you’re anything like me, it’s not your house that feels heavy—it’s your mind. Our invisible load weighs heavy.
Spring, for me, is now less about scrubbing and more about shedding. The mental tabs. The invisible load. The constant running list of who needs what, when, and where. And although truthfully that never stops for most of it, I am opting out for another checklist.

Here’s the kind of reset I’m leaning into this season:
SPRING MENTAL RESET
1. A Calendar Clean-Up (Not a Closet One)
First, before you say yes to everything end-of-year (because it’s coming fast), pause. Look at your calendar and ask: Does this actually feel good for my family right now? Not every event, signup, or obligation needs a yes. Is it tough to navigate? Yes. Is some free time with your family necessary? YES!
2. A Digital Detox
Ok next, not in a dramatic “delete all apps” way. Just a gentle unfollow, mute, or boundary. If it makes you feel behind, overwhelmed, or like you’re not doing enough—it’s out. Your life is full enough already.
3. Reconnect With Your People
Also, not the group chat you haven’t answered in 3 days (guilty), but the ones who fill your cup. A walk, a voice note, a quick coffee. Community doesn’t have to be big—it just has to feel real.
4. Do One Thing That’s Just for You
And no, a Target run alone doesn’t count (even though… it kind of does). I mean something that reminds you you’re still you outside of being mom, wife, everything-for-everyone.
5. Give Yourself Some Grace
Last but not least, spring doesn’t have to mean becoming a “new version” of yourself. We don’t have to have this grand dramatic spring entrance (leave that to the Easter bunny). You’re just allowed to soften, reset your pace, and step into a season that feels lighter.
This kind of reset? It won’t show up in your cabinets or your closets. And although, if I can be totally honest, I will most likely do some clearing out of closets too but this sort of mental clean-up is the one that ACTUALLY matters.

Let us all stop and smell the flowers for a change.
xo – Jossy 🙂
